The possibility of recalling members
of the sacked Imo State Executive Council dimmed yesterday, as they have been
ordered to immediately vacate the Commissioners’ Quarters without further
delay. Those of them that initially banked on the possibility of being recalled
by Governor Rochas Okorocha have started moving their personal property out of
the quarters.
Some of the former commissioners and their
personal aides wore long faces as they tried to move their things into waiting
vehicles.
One of the sacked commissioners’ aides, who
spoke on strict grounds of anonymity, expressed regret that his boss was
leaving without getting his severance allowance.
“My boss may be one of the hardest hit of all
the former political appointees of Governor Rochas Okorocha, because he
selflessly deployed his personal resources in the prosecution of the last general
elections. I do not know what he is now going home with,” the young man
lamented.
Answering a question, the young man said that
many aides of the political appointees were owed varying sums as unpaid
salaries and allowances, and wondered how they will ever get the money again.
Efforts made to reach the Secretary to Imo
State Government, Sir Jude Ejiogu, failed as he was said to be out of the
office.
