The Inspector General of
Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, has directed all Assistant Inspectors General
(AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs), to beef up security across the 36

for the duration of the holiday. The Police Force Public
Relations Officer, Mrs. Olabisi Kolawole, said all critical areas and states,
including the FCT and Borno, are on high security alert. She appealed to
Nigerians, especially those in the northern part of the country, to be security
conscious and report any unusual activity in their neighborhood and avoid
entertaining strangers through the Sallah festivities. Meanwhile, the Yobe
State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, has called on Islamic faithful to imbibe the
spirit of sacrifice, which is key to happy and prosperous society. In a Sallah

all, the fear of Allah at all times. Governor Gaidam also urged them to “take
the exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a source of guidance and
inspiration”. Similarly, the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, in his
